Wednesday food and drink deals in Kelowna: where to get the best wings, which pubs run Wednesday specials, and what to check before you go.
In this article:
The best Wednesday food specials in Kelowna are wing nights, led by Tonics Pub downtown, The Hatching Post's smoked wings in West Kelowna, and Dakoda's 18-flavour Wing Nite. This guide covers 13 local pubs and restaurants with Wednesday deals, what to order at each, and the catch at every one. Most venues change their specials regularly, so check their sites or socials before you go.
In summer, arrive early for a patio seat; winter Wednesdays are quieter. For date-night dinners, see the best restaurants in Kelowna list.
| Venue | Area | Wednesday deal | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tonics Pub | Downtown | Wing night | $$ |
| The Hatching Post | West Kelowna | Smoked wings and live music (check events) | $$ |
| Dakoda's Sports Bar & Grill | Harvey Ave | Wing Nite, 18 flavours, 11 AM to 11 PM | $ |
| Rusty's Sports Lounge | Dilworth Dr | Wing deal, pool tables | $$ |
| Kelly O'Bryan's | Downtown | Daily draft specials | $$ |
| Montana's | Banks Rd | Check daily deals | $$$ |
Tonics Pub | 1654 Ellis St | $$
What's good: Tonics is the city's standard for wing night, with a large after-work crowd. The wings are crispy, meaty and heavily sauced; the hot-yaki flavour is the popular order. Happy hour is solid, but Wednesday is its best night. The Kelowna happy hours guide covers deals on other days.
The catch: The room is very loud. Arrive by 4:30 PM or expect to wait for a table.
The Hatching Post | 2850 Boucherie Rd | $$
What's good: A West Kelowna smoked-barbecue restaurant and the main alternative to deep-fried pub food. It has run wings-and-live-music nights with a full pound of smoked wings, pickled veg and house-made Alabama white sauce; check its events page for the current schedule. It also suits craft beer drinkers. The Kelowna breweries guide lists more local options.
The catch: It's across the bridge, and afternoon traffic on Highway 97 into West Kelowna is heavy. Leaving downtown at 5:00 PM means a slow drive.
Creekside Pub & Grill | 3929 Lakeshore Rd | $$
What's good: A Mission neighbourhood pub beside the creek, usually running a Wednesday wing deal and cheap beer; check its socials for the current special. The food is consistent, and most customers walk in from the surrounding subdivisions. The lake is a short walk away.
The catch: The parking lot is small and awkwardly placed on a busy stretch of Lakeshore. Walk or take an Uber.
Rusty's Sports Lounge | 1525 Dilworth Dr | $$
What's good: A large sports bar behind the car dealerships, best for pool with cheap wings. There are plenty of pool tables, dart boards and TVs, and it's a popular place to watch a UFC fight or a Canucks game. The Wednesday wing deal is good value and portions are large.
The catch: The room is large, so service slows when it's busy, especially during big games.
Dakoda's Sports Bar & Grill | 1574 Harvey Ave | $
What's good: A no-frills bar on the highway near the Parkinson Rec Centre, with Wing Nite Wednesday from 11 AM to 11 PM and 18 flavours. There's karaoke on Wednesdays too (free open-mic comedy is on Thursdays). It's a dark room with cheap beer and no pretension.
The catch: The exterior looks rundown and the interior hasn't been updated in decades.
Leopold's Tavern | 279 Bernard Ave | $$
What's good: Leo's is a small, dark tavern known for its dill pickle wings. It's fairly new to downtown Kelowna, with walls covered in junk, vintage signs and polaroids. Check its socials for the current Wednesday wing deal.
The catch: Seating is tight, so it doesn't suit groups larger than four.
WINGS | 590 Hwy 33 West | $$
What's good: A wing chain in Rutland with a Wednesday wing special; check its site for the current price and conditions. Portions are decent, service is usually quick, and it's rarely as busy as the downtown pubs. Parking is easy.
The catch: It's a chain restaurant without the character of an independent local pub.
The Canadian Brewhouse | 3030 Pandosy St | $$
What's good: A sports bar in the Sopa Square building in South Pandosy, with daily food deals and a large patio; check its daily specials page for Wednesday. Summer Wednesdays are busy with people coming off the beach. Winters are much quieter.
The catch: It's a corporate sports bar, and a loud goal horn sounds whenever a Canadian team scores.
McCulloch Station Pub | 2789 K.L.O. Rd | $$
What's good: A pub near the Harvest Golf Club known for large Wednesday wings and a tree-shaded patio, which helps on a 35-degree July afternoon. It's convenient from East Kelowna and feels removed from the city despite being just off KLO Road.
The catch: The crowd is mostly older golfers, and the kitchen closes fairly early. Don't plan on food at 9:30 PM.
Mickie's Pub | 2170 Harvey Ave | $$
What's good: A long-running pub inside the Ramada with cheap wings on Wednesdays. The bartenders are long-serving, the wings are well sauced and the beer is cold. It's a central stop on Harvey.
The catch: As a hotel bar, the crowd mixes local regulars and hotel guests.
Montana's | 1500 Banks Rd | $$$
What's good: A rib house and the option for a break from pub wings; check its daily deals for the current Wednesday special. The ribs are heavy and messy.
The catch: It's surrounded by big-box parking lots, and access past the Walmart and Home Depot traffic on Banks Road is slow.
Kelly O'Bryan's | 262 Bernard Ave | $$
What's good: A downtown institution with daily draft specials on Wednesday and a rooftop patio overlooking the sails and the lake. The signature order is Pachos, waffle fries covered in cheese and green onions. In summer, the rooftop is the best seat.
The catch: It's on the main tourist strip, so service can be slow when the patio is full.
Brandt's Creek Pub | 435 Glenmore Rd | $$
What's good: Glenmore's neighbourhood pub, a large cabin-style room with daily food features. Wednesday is a good day for a pint and a burger. The crowd is local, and the back patio is surrounded by large trees.
The catch: The food is standard pub fare, chosen for convenience rather than variety.
Tonics Pub downtown is widely considered the best Wing Wednesday spot in Kelowna. The wings are heavily sauced and the hot-yaki flavour is a local favourite. Arrive before 5:00 PM to get a table.
Yes. The Hatching Post on Boucherie Road has run smoked-wing and live-music nights with Alabama white sauce; check their events page for the current schedule. It's a good alternative to standard deep-fried pub wings.
Montana's BBQ & Bar on Banks Road sometimes runs rib deals; check their daily deals page before you go. It gets busy with the big box store traffic, so expect a wait at dinner.
Yes. Rusty's Sports Lounge on Dilworth Drive runs a solid Wing Wednesday deal and has plenty of pool tables. It's the best place in the city for cheap wings and a game of pool.
WINGS Kelowna at 590 Highway 33 West is the cheap Wednesday pick in Rutland, with a Wednesday wing special. Check their site for current pricing.
