SD23's school directory lists every school with its grades. Below they're grouped by neighbourhood, with a note on what each one is known for: programs, enrollment details and the feel of the community.

    École Dorothea Walker Elementary

One of the city's most sought-after elementary schools, in the Lower Mission, with a strong PAC, outdoor learning spaces and very involved parents. Watch the grade split: it serves Grades 3–5 in English and Grades 3–6 in French Immersion, so younger children start at another school.

    Anne McClymont Elementary

A well-liked English-track school in the Lower Mission, close to Rotary Beach and the Okanagan Lake trails. It's known for strong academics, outdoor education and a welcoming, active parent community, and its staff tend to stay for years.

    Casorso Elementary

Serves Kindergarten to Grade 6 in the South Pandosy / KLO area, with Early French Immersion from Kindergarten. The building is well kept with modern classrooms, results are strong and the PAC is involved. If you want French Immersion and Dorothea Walker doesn't work out, this is a good backup, if there's space.

    South Kelowna Elementary

A smaller school out in the rural south-east part of the city, with a family feel, close ties to the community and a focus on outdoor learning. Small classes mean more personal attention.

    Glenmore & North Kelowna

The Glenmore and North Kelowna schools covered here are Bankhead, North Glenmore and École Glenmore Elementary. École Glenmore offers both English and Early French Immersion.

    Bankhead Elementary

An English program serving the Bankhead neighbourhood next to Glenmore. It's known for its outdoor learning spaces, including a school garden and nature area, and it has a strong PAC and sits close to Knox Mountain Park.

    North Glenmore Elementary

Serves upper Glenmore, with strong academics and active sports teams. Enrollment keeps growing as new homes fill in the area.

    École Glenmore Elementary

A long-standing school in central Glenmore with English and Early French Immersion programs. Expect strong basic academics, an active PAC, a school garden and plenty of community events.

    Rutland & East Kelowna

The Rutland and East Kelowna schools covered here are Quigley Elementary and Belgo Elementary. Belgo offers English and Early French Immersion.

    Quigley Elementary

A Rutland school with an active PAC, modern playground equipment and a growing number of students. It's known for being inclusive and for very dedicated staff.

    Belgo Elementary

Offers English and Early French Immersion in the Belgo/Black Mountain area of east Rutland, with a strong community feel and lots of personal attention.

    West Kelowna & Peachland

The Westside schools covered here are Shannon Lake, Helen Gorman and École Hudson Road Elementary in West Kelowna, plus Peachland Elementary.

    Shannon Lake Elementary

A newer school in West Kelowna's growing Shannon Lake neighbourhood, which has drawn a lot of young families. It has modern facilities, an active parent community and strong academics.

    Helen Gorman Elementary

Serves the Westbank area of West Kelowna, with a welcoming, diverse student body and strong sports and arts programs.

    Peachland Elementary

Peachland's small-town school, close to the lake, with smaller classes and close ties to the community. At a school this size, every staff member knows every child by name.

    École Hudson Road Elementary

On Hudson Road in West Kelowna, offering English and Early French Immersion. It's a welcoming school with lots of clubs, sports and community events.

Choosing Tip: Most families attend their catchment school, and that usually works out fine. French Immersion is where timing matters, so register as soon as SD23 registration opens (early February in 2026). Early French Immersion starts in Kindergarten or Grade 1 at schools such as Casorso and Bellevue Creek. If schools will decide your neighbourhood, go to the open houses (January–February) to get a feel for each school's culture and community in person.

    Lake Country

Lake Country's schools covered here are Davidson Road Elementary in Winfield and Oyama Traditional School in Oyama.

    Davidson Road Elementary

Serves the Winfield area of Lake Country. It's a community-focused school with lots of parent involvement, outdoor education and a semi-rural Lake Country feel.

    Oyama Traditional School

A smaller school in Oyama with a traditional approach to teaching, small classes and a close-knit community.

What is elementary school like in Kelowna?

SD23 elementary schools follow the BC curriculum, which focuses on core skills (communication, thinking, personal & social), reading, writing and math basics, and learning by asking questions. The day has morning recess, a lunch break and afternoon classes, but hours vary, so check your school's bell schedule. Your child attends the catchment school unless a cross-boundary transfer is approved.

Class sizes are set by provincial law: Kindergarten classes are capped at 22 students and Grades 1–3 at 24. Many schools have before- and after-school care through the YMCA, Boys & Girls Club and private providers.
