MovingToKelowna takes its facts from the organisations that publish them, checks every listed business against its own website, and dates each page so readers can see how current it is.
Every figure and listing on MovingToKelowna comes from a source that publishes it directly. For public services that means the City of Kelowna, School District 23, the Province of British Columbia, BC Transit, BC Parks, Interior Health and Statistics Canada. Housing figures come from the local real estate boards and rent figures from the Rentals.ca and Urbanation National Rent Report.
For businesses, the source is the business itself: its own website, menu, booking page or published hours. Where a business doesn't publish something, such as hours or prices, the page says so instead of guessing.
Before a business is listed, it's checked against its own website or another current official listing to confirm it's operating and that the address is right. Businesses that have closed, moved or can't be confirmed are removed rather than left in.
Each page shows the date its facts were last checked. Dated figures, such as a month's average rent or home price, say which month they describe, so a reader can tell how current they are.
Businesses can't pay to be included in a guide or to move up a list. If MovingToKelowna publishes sponsored content or advertising, it will be labelled as sponsored.
Information for businesses interested in advertising is on the sponsorships page.
Lists rank places by what they're best for, using what the sources publish: menus, prices, hours, facilities and location. Where a page gives a recommendation or a downside ("The catch"), it's practical guidance, not a paid review.
If something on the site is wrong or out of date, email hello@movingtokelowna.ca with the page and what's changed. Confirmed errors are corrected and the page's checked date is updated.
