Where to get good coffee in Kelowna, neighbourhood by neighbourhood: downtown, Pandosy and Glenmore.
In this article:
The best coffee shops in Kelowna are Bean Scene Coffee Works and Analog Coffee downtown and Bright Jenny Coffee Roasters in Glenmore. This guide covers each neighbourhood in turn, from downtown to Pandosy Village and Glenmore, with what each shop does well and when it's worth the trip.
Downtown has the most choice, and three shops stand out: Bean Scene, Sprout Bread and Analog Coffee. For anyone new to Kelowna, it's the easiest place to start.
Location: 1399 Ellis St, Kelowna (across from Memorial Arena)
Ask a local where to get coffee and Bean Scene is usually the first answer. The shop roasts its own beans, the coffee is consistently excellent and the room is welcoming. It's a convenient stop before an afternoon in the shops or a walk along the waterfront. If this location is busy, Bean Scene has several others around town.
Location: 1295 Cannery Ln, Kelowna
Sprout Bread is a bakery first. The pastries and artisanal bread are the main reason to go, though the coffee, made with locally roasted beans, is also very good. Order the sourdough or a croissant with your cup.
Location: The Shoppes at One Water (Sunset Dr and Clement Ave), Kelowna
Analog suits coffee purists: single-origin beans, precise brewing methods and knowledgeable baristas. The room is minimalist and modern, which makes it a good place to get some work done. The coffee is consistent from one visit to the next.
Pandosy Village is quieter than downtown and works as a neighbourhood stop. Its standout is a cafe known for gluten-free baking.
Location: 2903 Pandosy St, Kelowna
Marmalade Cat Cafe serves breakfast and lunch, and the coffee is good. The baking is the draw, with plenty of gluten-free options. Despite the name, there are no cats.
Glenmore, north of downtown, is home to Bright Jenny Coffee Roasters, which is worth the detour.
Location: 1970 Kane Rd Unit 210, Kelowna
Bright Jenny is a working roastery with a cafe space, so the beans are roasted on site. It's known for its blends, and the baristas will talk about roasting if you ask. Go when you want to try something new.
Kelowna coffee menus change with the seasons. Summer brings iced lattes and cold brew; once the weather cools, mochas and pumpkin spice take over. Many shops also run seasonal specials made with local ingredients.
The chains are reliable backups when an independent shop isn't nearby:
